Gold Messenger ("we", "us", "our") provides the Gold Messenger desktop application, its companion website, and related services (together, the "Service"). This policy applies to anyone who downloads the app, visits this website, or creates an account.
Account information: your chosen nickname, password (stored as a salted cryptographic hash — we never store your actual password), and any profile details you add.
Messages and chat history: Room and private messages are stored on our servers so they can be shown to you again later, unless you turn off history saving in Preferences. You can view or delete your own saved history at any time from within the app.
Payment information: When you purchase a Colored ID, Room Color, Crown, or Flair, your card details are handled entirely by our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number. For local bank transfers, we only retain what's needed to confirm and apply your payment.
Technical information: IP address and connection metadata, used only for security (spam/abuse prevention) and to keep the service running — not for tracking or advertising.
We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not show ads inside Gold Messenger.
We share payment details only with our payment processor, strictly to complete your purchase — they are bound by their own security and privacy standards. We do not share your messages, account details, or activity with any other third party, except where required by law.
Chat history is kept until you delete it yourself (via the in-app History Browser) or your account is deleted. Account information is kept for as long as your account exists. If you'd like your account and data fully removed, contact us.
Passwords are never stored in plain text — we use salted PBKDF2 hashing. Admin tools are protected by a separate access key that regular users never have. That said, no system is 100% secure, and you're responsible for keeping your own password confidential.
Gold Messenger is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
